Kaunas University of Technology (KTU) students were very successful in winning mobility scholarships from Baltic Sea Region University Consortium for Science and Technology (BALTECH). 16 KTU students were awarded BALTECH scholarships, which comprises the majority of all the scholarships allocated in this quarter’s competition.
“We are very happy to see that KTU students are becoming increasingly active in BALTECH mobility scholarship competitions – not for the first time they comprise the majority of applicants. Mobility is an important part of study process, and many universities have a compulsory mobility norm of at least once semester”, says Kristina Ukvalbergienė, KTU Vice-Rector for Studies ad interim.
She emphasises that even short-time student mobility has positive impact on their employability after studies and their salary. Also, travelling for studies is very beneficial for personal development – it expands the world view and makes one more open-minded for different cultures and experiences.
Short-term mobility scholarships to visit other BALTECH universities are available for students and academic staff.
BALTECH was initiated by the rectors of 7 universities in 1997. KTU is one of the founders of BALTECH and is participating in its activities from the very beginning. The aim of the Consortium is to unite the Baltic Sea region universities for close collaboration in the fields of natural sciences, technologies and industrial management.
