One of the challenges of contemporary world is the constantly increasing number of infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. According to the USA Center for Disease Control and Prevention, in the United States every year 23 000 people dye from infections caused by antibiotic-resistant bacteria. Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), has emphasized that addressing bacterial resistance to antibiotics is one of the priority areas for WHO. One of the ways to address this problem, as envisaged by the WHO, is to develop and synthesize new antibacterial agents. In this work, new potentially biologically active products of the reactions of 3-[(4-methoxyphenyl)amino]propanehydrazide with acyclic and heterocyclic carbonyl compounds will be synthesized and their antibacterial activity will be investigated.
