Immobilization of bioactive substances in polysaccharide derivatives by emulsion formation

Project no.: 09.3.3-LMT-K-712-15-0090

Project description:

The main goal of this project is the investigation of immobilization of natural bioactive substances including plant essential oils in modified starches by emulsion formation technique as well as training of the student in scientific research. During the project the formation of aqueous emulsions of natural essential oils and modified starches and their stability will be thoroughly investigated.

Project funding:

Project is funded by EU Structural Funds according to the 2014–2020 Operational Programme for the European Union Funds’ Investments priority “Development of scientific competence of researchers, other researchers, students through practical scientific activities” under Measure No. 09.3.3-LMT-K-712.

Project results:

The aqueous emulsion formation between the selected plant essential oils and modified starch derivatives will be thoroughly studied. After establishing the optimal conditions of emulsion formation, characterization of obtained emulsions and assessment of their stability, new materials with potential application as environmentally friendly biopesticides will be obtained. Young researcher will acquire new competences in the area of biopolymer and plant essential oil research and applications.
