The epidemiological data of depression disorders (DD) remain very different due to a variety of limitations of diagnostic approaches, the differences in diagnostic methodologies and their diagnostic reliability problems. DD should be recognized, diagnosed and treated at the earliest disease stage, because they have a significant negative impact not only on the treatment outcomes of DD, but also on the duration of comorbid somatic illness, their treatment effectiveness, outcomes and patient survival rates. The different variables-moderators are analysed during the evaluation of early DD diagnostic methods. Because of the growth of evidence of the influence of nutrition on mental health, especially for affective symptoms, it is hypothesized that the changes in the emotional response to different tastes of food could be used as an early diagnostic method of affective disorders. The aim of this project is to develop an early diagnostic method of DD: computer-based screening of emotional response to different tastes of food.
