Collaborative Consortium for the early detection of Liver Cancer (COCLICAN)

Project no.: 823935

Project description:

Detection and preliminary clinical characterization of liver cancer is usually carried out by physical examination, measurement of foetoprotein and echography. Unfortunatelly, these methods are not specific enough, and in the majority of cases patients (when they can afford it) come to medical facilities when carcinogenesis is too advanced to be curable. The COCLICAN network aims to tackle this issue, searcing for early detection methods in liver cancer, through an international partnersip deployed over three continents: Sout America, South_East Asia dn Europe. Kaunas University of Technology partner is responsible for Workpacake 3 on extraction and metabolomics, which should evaluate various extraction methods for the analysis of metabolites and, finally, to apply integrative approach in developing effective chemical evaluation protocols.

Project funding:

The EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation “Horizon 2020”
